The image shows the Armstrong Siddeley Sphinx superimposed over a depiction of a Whitley bomber flying over a map of Germany to Pilsen on a bombing raid on 27th October 1940.

The caption for this series of advertisements reads “The story behind the post-war Armstrong Siddeley Cars” as the company transitioned from manufacture of aircraft in wartime to cars in peacetime following the Second World War.

The advertisement has been cut from Punch, or The London Charivari, magazine.
